The Caspian Sea represents a strategically significant region in which both regional and extra-regional actors pursue their national interests. The pursuit of such interests has, in turn, generated tensions and shifting alliances. National interests are inherently influenced by national power, and the power-generating factors in the Caspian are closely aligned with Iran’s geopolitical components. A state that succeeds in enhancing these geopolitical elements of power will be better positioned in alliance-building, regional and international relations, and ultimately in securing its national interests. Identifying Iran’s geopolitical components in the Caspian and adopting appropriate strategies and policies to safeguard them enables a comprehensive understanding of threats and opportunities arising from geopolitical changes, particularly in countering the influence of regional and extra-regional powers. This study explores and identifies the key factors affecting Iran’s national interests in the Caspian Sea. Drawing upon existing literature, both independent and dependent variables have been extracted, with the main objective being to determine the components and indicators influencing Iran’s national interests in the Caspian across three dimensions: natural, political, and economic. The research is of a fundamental nature and employs a descriptive-analytical methodology. The statistical population consists of 80 experts selected through a census method based on the study’s requirements. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling. Findings reveal that the natural component (with seven indicators), the political component (with six indicators), and the economic component (with seven indicators) play decisive roles in realizing Iran’s national interests in the Caspian. Attention to these indicators not only strengthens power-generating factors but also contributes to the enhancement of national security.
